I have been closely associated to the health insurance industry all my life. I grew up in a medical family with a father who was a general surgeon. I watched him work many late nights and weekends caring for his patients. My oldest daughter was also drawn into the medical field and works as a nurse in one of the largest hospitals in Dallas in the cardiac intensive care unit. For me however, I chose a different route than medical school and long hours in a hospital. I decided to build a career helping people much like my father and daughter but instead as an independent health insurance agent in Plano, Texas.
I can’t believe it’s been 20 years since I started my career in health insurance. There have been a lot of changes in the health insurance industry during that time: Health reform and “Obamacare”, the vanishing of PPO networks for individual health insurance plans, the growth in short term “catastrophic” individual health plans. These changes have led to a growing interest in small group health insurance with as few as 1 or 2 employees on the policy.
Sound confusing? Yes, it can be if you try and navigate your health insurance choices by yourself. But fortunately, you still have health insurance brokers like myself and my business partner, Marina Sakran who love going to work every day to help our clients find the right health insurance solution for their family or small business. When you need help with your health insurance, please call our office and we will be glad to assist with your individual/family, short term, Medicare or small group health insurance.
